Mind-body clinical hypnosis is an exciting and progressive form of mind-body treatment to healing. The human mind and body are mutually connected by chemical substance: neurotransmitters and hormones. These substances communicate bi-directionally in mind and body and also communicate with our immune system. Recent research provides compelling evidence that attitude, diet, and lifestyle influence our overall mental and physical health. Mind-body clinical hypnosis is a tool I use to influence mind-body communication toward a desired goal. An example of a goal is a need to reach a calm yet attention state during times of stress. This goal might be achieved by influencing the fight-flight reaction of the autonomic nervous system. Another example is to reduce the intensity and duration of pain. This goal might be approached by influencing the sensory and affective dimensions of the neural pain centers in the central nervous system. As a result of supportive scientific studies, clinical hypnosis is increasingly recognized by the medical community. These are impressive research studies supporting the usefulness and effectiveness of hypnosis for conditions such as: fibromyalgia, migraines, smoking cessation, depression, anxiety, pain syndromes, and preparation for surgery as well as wound healing afterwards.
